Section 3 of the French Way, the most famous Camino de Santiago route, starts in Logroño, capital of the famous La Rioja wine region. Explore this fantastic city and treat yourself to the most delicious ‘tapas’ in the lively Calle del Laurel before you start your journey. The city is also home to many artisan ice cream makers so you are in for another treat!

The terrain becomes easier than in previous stages of the Camino: you will walk across undulating farmland and vineyards, passing castles, monasteries and charming medieval villages. One of the highlights of this section is the town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada with its historic centre, an important stop for pilgrims on the Camino since the Middle Ages.

You will finish your Camino walk in majestic Burgos, home of ‘El Cid’ and considered by many the Gothic capital of Spain. In Burgos, you shouldn’t miss its magnificent cathedral, possibly the most beautiful Gothic building in the country, and experience the local ‘tapas’ scene in the old town.
