Winter Walking on the Camino
As we know, walking the Camino de Santiago is a popular year-round activity and each route has its moment to shine during the different seasons. While many people choose to walk the routes in the spring, summer and autumn, you shouldn’t rule out some winter walking. There are some routes that are perfect for winter walking and the charm of a quieter Camino, so you’ll be able to enjoy the Camino at any time.
The below routes boast pleasant temperatures year-round so you’re less likely to feel the icy chills common on some other Camino routes. Obviously, it’s still important to wrap up during a winter walk but you won’t completely freeze. With this in mind, here are our favourite Camino de Santiago routes for winter walking:
A good fit if you…
- prefer quiet trails
- can travel outside the busy summer months
