As we know, initially, Italy was hit the hardest by the pandemic of all the countries in Europe.
Understandably, the return to a new normal in Italy has been a little slower than in other countries.
Hotels in Italy have been slowly reopening since May and implementing the new government guidelines for health and safety.
As we have a number of walking routes in Italy on the Via Francigena and St. Francis Way, we are in constant contact with our hotels and suppliers about reopening and the steps they are taking to ensure they are “COVID-ready”.
For this blog, we will look at one of our hotels on the Via Francigena.
Hotel La Cisterna on the Via Francigena
On the Via Francigena, you will pass through the medieval walled town of San Gimignano.
In the main square in San Gimignano, you will find the Hotel La Cisterna in a beautiful medieval building overlooking the Tuscan hills.
We have been working with the hotel for some time now and we are very happy to recommend this hotel as a great family-run accommodation option.
We recently talked to the hotel about the measures they are putting in place to be COVID-ready to accept guests when travel resumes:
We make breakfast by reservation and preferably through room service;
The entrances are divided into separate paths for entry and exit;
Introduction of plexiglass protective screens at the desk;
Wearing of mask:
Entry to common areas is allowed only with the mask;
Possibility of detecting body temperature with thermometer scanner;
Hand sanitizers will be positioned at the entrance to the hotel, in the lift, in the bathrooms, and in the restaurant;
Daily cleaning of rooms & common areas and periodic sanitization with certified virucidal products and dry aerosol based on hydrogen peroxide on surfaces, furnishings, cooling and heating systems;
Tables at least 1 meter apart; pre-booking essential
The companies we use for linen and room cleaning have all adopted the anti-contagion regulations.
These are just some of the measures the Hotel La Cisterna is implementing in accordance with the Italian government guidelines for all hotels in Italy.
We are happy to recommend this hotel in Italy for travelers on the Via Francigena.
