What do I wear on the bike?
One of the frequently asked questions we get about cycling the Camino de Santiago is ‘What do I wear on the bike?’
When it comes to cycling the Camino, comfort is essential. There’s no need to wear the latest trends or equip yourself like a professional cyclist with all the latest gadgets.
You can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, especially if you’re cycling in the heat of late spring and summer. However, it is worth considering wearing padded bicycle shorts and bicycle gloves to prevent any extra soreness after a full day on the bike.
An increasing number of people are opting to cycle the Camino de Santiago rather than walk the Camino routes. You can cover more ground in a shorter space of time and nothing quite beats the thrill of zooming through the countryside on a bike. You can choose to cycle the Camino on a standard mountain bike or you can cycle the Camino on an EMTB electric bike. However, we advise that you should only cycle the Camino if you have considerable cycling experience.
