Camino del Norte From Vilalba to Santiago Last 100km
The last stage of the Camino del Norte, from Vilalba to Santiago, covers the final 100km of the Northern Way. Pilgrims travel from the market town of Vilalba through Galicia’s farmland and lush countryside to reach Santiago de Compostela.
During this stage, you will walk through peaceful forests and enjoy the green countryside. Along the way, many scenic landmarks and historical monuments await your discovery.
One highlight is the magnificent 10th-century monastery in Sobrado dos Monxes. Many old churches tell stories about Spain’s rich religious and cultural history.
The first half of this section is quiet and scenic, offering a perfect chance to relax and reconnect with nature. It’s an ideal time to unwind and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
You will join the famous Camino Francés in Arzúa in the second half. This means experiencing both a tranquil route and the popular, lively trail, offering the best of both worlds. Be sure to sample the delicious cheeses of Arzúa before continuing!
Finally, you will reach Monte do Gozo, or the Mount of Joy, for your first glimpse of Santiago Cathedral. Remember to stamp your pilgrim passport and claim your Compostela certificate after walking over 100km. You can also start from Ribadeo to explore the stunning Cathedrals Beach before heading inland.
