Directions from “Concatedral” to Rua Urzaiz
The Concatedral de Santa María de Vigo, also known as Vigo Cathedral, is a historic and symbolic landmark in the heart of the city. Its central location and deep connection to local culture make it an excellent starting point for the Camino Portugués from Vigo. Pilgrims departing from the cathedral follow in the footsteps of centuries of travellers, setting out on a journey rich in history and tradition. With its proximity to key city landmarks and a direct route to the Camino, it serves as an inspiring place to begin your pilgrimage.
- Start at La Colegiata and walk towards Plaza de la Constitución via Rua Triunfo.
- From Plaza de la Constitución, continue towards Puerta del Sol, where you will see the Sireno statue.
- From the Sireno statue, connect with Rua do Príncipe, a well-known pedestrian street in Vigo.
- Walk to the end of Rua do Príncipe, where it meets Rua Urzaiz.
- From Rua Urzaiz, follow the previous directions provided.
Whichever route you choose, enjoy the journey and Buen Camino! By walking the final 100 km from Vigo to Santiago de Compostela, pilgrims will still qualify to receive the Compostela—the official pilgrim certificate.
