Every year thousands of people embark upon their Camino journey. These modern-day ‘pilgrims’ choose to take to the trails for various reasons; as a way to escape, for simple pleasures, to get back to nature, to experience something new, for a challenge and to taste the delicious Spanish food.
Historically it is believed that people have been walking this route since before the 8th century, making it one of the oldest pilgrim routes in the world. To collect your Camino certificate once you finish the walk you must collect stamps along the way. Each town will greet you and provide you with the stamps you need.
Along the way, you will meet fellow walkers, taste the tapas and enjoy the true Spanish culture that makes the region of Galicia come alive. Last year over 300,000 people got their Compostela certificate when they completed The Camino in Santiago de Compostela. You must walk at least 100kms to be entitled to your certificate.
Here are a few of the most popular routes on Camino de Santiago:
THE LAST WEEK OF THE CAMINO FRANCES
THE COASTAL CAMINO FROM PORTO
THE FULL CAMINO FRANCES
THE CAMINO DEL NORTE
THE CAMINO PORTUGUES
There are many ways to begin your first Camino journey and we are here to help you choose the best route for you.
