5 Positive Thoughts To Help Make 2022 Your Year
It’s the time of year for new beginnings. Now we’re not here to condemn you for the excess that was the Christmas season, it was fantastic and we regret none of it!
All the same, I still believe that a new calendar year is always a nice time to make a change so here are 5 positive thoughts that we hope will help make 2022 your year!
1. Look Outward
My resolution for this year (along with learning the geographical location of every country in the world, but that’s a different story) is a simple one. To look outward rather than inward.
What this means is to stop, slow down and take in the world around you, from the sounds and sights to the smells. There’s a big world out there and in the words of Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”. So here’s to stopping and looking around.
2. Get Moving
I know, I know. A new exercise plan in January is about as clichéd as they come, but I stand by it nonetheless. Exercise helps reduce stress, boost your mood, promote health. Basically, it keeps you feeling good on the inside and looking good on the outside.
Adding more exercise into your life in 2022 is a no-brainer. If you’re looking for a place to start, our free Camino fitness guide has everything you need to get you from couch to walking the Camino to Rome in six months.
3. More Time Outdoors
This was my New Year’s resolution last year and one that served me very well. The benefits of getting out in the fresh air are tenfold. Increasing the amount of time I spent outdoors last year benefited me in more ways than one.
In addition to the obvious advantages of stress reduction, agreeing to spend more time outdoors also gave me the opportunity to appreciate my surroundings.
4. Unplug
Let’s make a promise to ourselves and to each other this year and that promise is to spend less time looking at a screen or through a lens. Let’s be mindful of our surroundings. Live in the moment. Take some time to switch off from emails, text messages and social media.
In 2022, let’s not worry about WiFi access but instead let’s make a pact to connect with the earth, with our friends and loved ones and with ourselves.
5. Don’t Put It Off
How many things have you always wanted to do? How many resolutions have you made every single year but kept putting them off?
Whether it’s finishing that novel, learning those few words of Spanish or walking the Camino *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*, make 2022 your year!
I can guarantee you one thing, you will not regret it.
These are only 5 positive thoughts to help get you in the mood for the year ahead, there are many more out there. Do you have any suggestions for positive ways to make 2022 your year? Let us know.
