Merry Christmas and Happy 2018 from CaminoWays.com
I would like to wish you all, our wonderful clients, friends and family, a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year 2018. 2017 has been another great year for the CaminoWays.com team, full of changes and excitement:
The year started with exciting news as our Marketing Manager Maria welcomed a baby girl, Sabela, who arrived just in time to celebrate the Three Wise Men.
In February I climbed Kilimanjaro, a once in a lifetime trek, where I was flying the TrekkingBug.com flag with some of you, our loyal clients and my intrepid father in law, Eamon. I also had the chance to go trekking in the mountains of Tajikistan this year and if you’d like to experience this amazing destination, you can find my trip in Trekkingbug.com too.
In May, some members of the team travelled to Tralee to take part in the Kerry Camino Walking Festival and we are proud to be supporting the festival organisers again for the third year running in 2018.
In July, we celebrated St James Day at our offices in Dublin with a very special screening of I’ll Push You, the moving documentary following Justin and Patrick on their Camino journey. A very special and inspirational movie we highly recommend watching, if you haven’t done so yet.
After months of hard work, we launched our superb new website in August. Our work didn’t stop there however, as we are constantly working on website improvements to give you the best Camino experience, from the moment you start planning your journey at CaminoWays.com. We also created a brand new area where you, all Camino fans can share your favourite memories.
In September, radio presenter and big Camino fan Phil Cawley, took a group of 40 Today FM listeners to the Camino. The #CawleyCamino is now an annual event and Phil is already plotting his next Camino escape for 2018. Watch this space and the airwaves for his big announcement in January.
Also in September we published our wonderful mini film, Camino: a journey for the soul, and made us feel like packing our walking boots and hitting the Camino trail again.
In October, wedding bells rang for Digital Marketing Manager Lisa who got married in the beautiful West of Ireland, do you remember she got engaged on the Camino last year? How romantic is that?
Four teams from the office also went cycling on different Camino routes in the Autumn, to learn and experience the magic of it all. You can read their experiences in our Camino blog.
We finished off the year announcing the winner of our Greenlife Fund. This year we are planting a Camino forest in Northern Portugal. We have supported the planting of over 1,450 trees with Mossy Earth and look forward to helping with this wonderful project in 2018.
The team travelled far and wide this year to promote the Camino: Keswick Mountain Festival, Adventure Travel Show and WTM in the UK, ITB in Berlin, Holiday World Show and Ploughing Championships in Ireland, Adventure Travel Summit in Argentina, Fairway in Santiago de Compostela are some of the travel shows we attended this year. In 2018, we are looking forward to attending the LA Adventure and Travel Show and many other exciting events.
Many groups and charities travelled with us again this year and we’d like to thank them sincerely for trusting us with their fundraising treks, for many organisations this is an extremely important way to raise much-needed funds for very worthy causes.
As another year comes to an end, we have launched new exciting Camino routes for next year and I am really looking forward to be trekking the Mountains of the Moon in Uganda in March. Let our team know if you’d like to join me on this trek.
This year was a year of changes: we changed logos, we launched our new site and we said goodbye to some members of the team who will be greatly missed; we also welcomed some excellent new additions to the team and we are looking forward to helping you plan your adventures for 2018!
