FAQs – Camino Luxury Parador Group Tour
Where does the tour start and finish?
The tour begins in Baiona, on Galicia’s Atlantic coast, and finishes on the Costa da Morte at Muxía and Finisterre, with a farewell dinner at sunset overlooking the ocean. Over 8 days you’ll travel from the Portuguese Coastal Way up to “the End of the World.”
How does the tour work, and how long is it?
It’s an 8-day guided tour with two nights in each of four historic Paradores (Baiona, Pontevedra, Santiago de Compostela and Muxía). You walk selected, scenic sections of the Camino each day and travel between them by private coach, so there’s no pressure to walk long distances.
How much walking is involved each day?
The daily walks are short and gentle — typically around 5 to 6.5 km, on some of the most beautiful stretches of the Camino. The coach covers the longer distances, so you enjoy the highlights at a relaxed pace.
Do I have to carry my luggage or walk with a backpack?
No. Luggage transfers are included and moved for you between Paradores and the coach support means you only carry a daypack on the walks themselves.
What are the Paradores?
Paradores are part of Spain’s celebrated collection of historic and luxury hotels, founded in 1928, set in beautifully restored castles, monasteries, palaces and clifftop properties. On this tour you’ll stay in four: the Monte Real Fortress in Baiona, the Renaissance Palace of the Counts of Maceda in Pontevedra, the 1499 Royal Hospital on Santiago’s Obradoiro Square, and the contemporary clifftop Parador Costa da Morte in Muxía.
Is the tour guided?
Yes — an experienced English-speaking local guide accompanies you throughout, sharing the history and culture of Galicia and handling all the practical details, from logistics to luggage.
What’s included?
Two nights’ accommodation in each Parador, coach transport throughout, luggage transfers, breakfast and dinner daily, a local English-speaking guide, and all guided activities in the programme (wine tasting, catamaran cruise, cathedral and rooftop visit, tapas experiences and more).
How do I get to Baiona, and which airport is best?
The closest airport is Vigo (~35 km). Other options are Porto, Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña. From Vigo it’s a short transfer to Baiona — and we can arrange private transfers on request.
When does the tour run?
There are departures in April and October, when Galicia’s weather is at its most pleasant for walking. Pricing is per person sharing, with a single-room supplement available — contact us for current dates and prices.
Will I earn the Compostela certificate?
This is a guided highlights tour with coach support, walking selected sections rather than the continuous final 100 km, so it isn’t structured around earning the Compostela. The focus is the experience — but if the certificate matters to you, let us know and we’ll advise.
What makes 2027 special?
2027 is a Jacobean Holy Year, when Santiago Cathedral opens its Holy Door — a rare privilege reserved for these years. You’ll enter through it during your guided cathedral visit, alongside a special rooftop experience.
Which Caminos does the tour follow?
Two: the Portuguese Coastal Way (including a stretch of the Variante Espiritual) in the south, and the Camino to Muxía and Finisterre on the Costa da Morte — the only Camino that continues west beyond Santiago to the Atlantic.
