The fifth section of the Le Puy Way or Via Podiensis, starts from the pretty town of Lectoure, in the heart of Le Gers and the famous Armagnac brandy producing region. On this section of the Le Puy Camino, pilgrims make their way across green countryside, peaceful woodlands, as well as the vast lush vineyards of Armagnac. As you approach the small village of La Romieu, pilgrims are welcome by the imposing tower of St Pierre Church where you should take some time to admire the 14th century cloister. Another important stop on the way is the city of Condom where you should stop to visit the magnificent St Peter’s Gothic Cathedral (and take a snap with the Three Musketeers!). The landscape will gradually change to crop fields and pine forests as you enter the Landes region, to reach the final stop for this section: the market town of Aire sur l’Adour.
