This section of the Via Francigena takes you from Reims to Bar-sur-Aube. The walk starts in the historical city of Reims, the unofficial capital of the Champagne wine-growing region and features the Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims.
You will walk through the heart of the Champagne region and be walking through vineyards, where there is as many grapevines as far as the eye can see. There is a great opprtunity to find out more about the champagne making process at Pre en Bulles during your stay in Trepail. The area is best known for the production of sparkling white wine and you will have the opportunity all along this route to sample some of France’s finest wine.
The walk ends up in the old medieval town of Bar-Sur-Aube. The town has various historical buildings and was made famous for it’s champagnes fairs which used to attract people from all over Europe.
