Your trip starts in the Spanish capital: Madrid. Next day you will travel towards Portugal, stopping off along the way to visit the walled city of Ávila and Salamanca’s UNESCO-listed Old City. Across Serra da Estrela you will arrive in Portugal and reach Coimbra, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. From Coimbra, you will travel to Fátima to visit its famous sanctuary. Next stop is Óbidos, a walled city flanked by towers and bastions overlooking the countryside. Next on your route is Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city. Stretching along the Tejo River and into the Atlantic Ocean, breezy Lisbon is full of historical buildings and picturesque squares. You will spend two nights in Lisbon before travelling to Seville, the vibrant capital of Andalusia.
Seville’s Old Town, the third largest in Europe, contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace, the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies. From Seville you will travel to Madrid with a stop in Cordoba along the way. Across Don Quixote’s La Mancha spot its castles and windmills, before reaching Madrid for the final two nights of your tour. Included is a tour of the city, taking in Madrid’s historic centre.
