Camino Ways, the walking and cycling holiday specialists, would like to invite walking enthusiasts of all levels to join in their inaugural walking festival, in association with Special Olympics Ireland and 53 Degrees North.
This two-day guided walking tour will take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of July and will take in the breath-taking scenery of Glendalough, the Vale of Glendasan and the gentle slopes of Camaderry Mountain. The walk is open to walkers who wish to join for either or both days and all funds raised will go towards Special Olympics Ireland.
Camino Ways’ experienced guides have personally mapped out the route and will accompany the walkers every step of the way.
The walk will begin with registration at 9am on Saturday 28th July, with walkers setting off from the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh at 11am. During the route, walkers will travel on the circuit of Glendassen, a distance of 16.5km. The route offers a unique view of the spectacular Glen and its surroundings, away from the usual hiking routes.
On Sunday 29th July, walkers will travel by bus to Glenmalure, an area which is steeped in history. The planned route will follow the Wicklow Way as far as the monastic site and tower of St. Kevin, covering a total distance of 14km.
This exciting event not only offers walkers the chance to explore Glendalough, but also gives the opportunity to raise vital funds for Special Olympics Ireland, a cause which Camino Ways are very proud to support.
Roland Monsegu, Director of Camino Ways, is urging people to get involved in the event, saying, “Take a break from your normal routine and enjoy the local countryside with family and friends, all the while raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ireland.”
For walkers who wish to do a 1 day guided walk, the registration fee is €20 and includes, 1 packed lunch, a Special Olympics welcome pack and transfers where required.
For those who would like to do the 2 day guided walk, there is a non-refundable deposit required of €40 and a fundraising target of €250. The 2 day package includes, 2 guided walks, 1 nights accommodation in Lynhams Hotel Laragh, a 3 course dinner, breakfast, 2 packed lunches, a Special Olympics welcome pack and transfers where required.
