Put a spring in your step with these fresh Camino routes!

Spring is nearly upon us and all over the Camino trails nature is waking from its winter slumber. This time of year is perfect for hiking. It’s not too hot, and not too cold. The days are starting to get a little longer and the Camino routes are still quiet and tranquil. Spring is the perfect time to escape and reflect.

Here are some great trip ideas for a memorable Spring on the Camino:

THE CLASSIC CAMINO PORTUGUES

The Camino Portugues begins in the wonderful seaside city of Porto. Experience the cultural and culinary delights of Spain and Portugal on one trail. In just two weeks you will be immersed a wealth of history, as you follow the trail which links picturesque medieval towns.

OFF THE BEATEN TRACK ON THE VIA DE LA PLATA

The countryside has never looked prettier than on the Via de La Plata in Spring. This is one of the less travelled routes, so it remains totally unspoiled. Traverse through calm woodland, alongside gentle streams and across peaceful rolling hills. The Via de la Plata is considered one of the most beautiful ways to enter Santiago de Compostela.

ITALIAN DELIGHTS IN TUSCANY

The rolling hills of Tuscany resemble a patchwork quilt of beauty. This trail from Lucca to Sienna is extremely open and unsheltered. For this reason, it may be a little too hot to visit during the summer. Spring is the perfect time to go. Your journey begins in the majestic walled city of Lucca. Visit the breathtaking hilltop town of San Miniato. This trail has something for everyone; food, wine, culture, history and nature. A must see!

Hi Angie, thank you for your message. You would probably be best starting in O Cebreiro which is approx 153km from Santiago de Compostela but it would be a good idea to talk through the options with a member of our travel team at info@caminoways.com before you book. Here is the itinerary for the full route that you can break down day by day – https://caminoways.com/ways/french-way-camino-frances/french-way-full-way Best of luck with all of your preparations. Kindest wishes, Lisa.

We am planning of doing the last 159km if el Camino Frances. We are 65 yo and over some of us fitter than others. We want a walk that is not so strenuous. What villages do you suggest we start before Sarria? Of course we will be doing lots of walks begotten we embark on this trip.
    Gracias
