I had a wonderful Via de la Plata Camino in May this year cycling from Seville to Santiago de Compostela. I stayed mainly on the roads but the pilgrim path option is also nice. Once one has left the beautiful city of Seville the route becomes very quiet and peaceful. The roads are practically traffic free as there is a motorway which takes all the non-local traffic for the first 700 kilometres. I stayed in some very scenic towns and villages along the way. My favourite place to stay was Salamanca which was ideal for a two night stay as it’s approximately half way through the route and the two days there are needed to savour that lovely city. Local people were extremely helpful and friendly, especially in the smaller villages as they were delighted to welcome visitors and pilgrims on what is the of the quieter but scenic Camino routes. One piece of advice that I would share is to top up with water and food along the way as sometimes there are distances of up to 20 kilometers between villages. All in all, the Via de la Plata is definitely a recommended Camino.
