“A friend and I decided to do the last 100+ KM of the Camino Portuguese Coastal, a trek about which we knew very little and did not have time for extensive research in advance. While we chose to carry our packs, we were not confident enough to opt for finding albergues as we went, as neither of us had experienced The Camino before. Plus, we did not want to risk being in a common room of bunks with several snoring strangers.
So based upon the reviews I read, I chose CaminoWays.com as our lodging provider. Hoping to stay at places that had a bit of extra charm, we chose the “Country Cottages” option. Boy, am I glad we did!!
While the actual room accommodations at a few of the hotels were pretty standard, their locations (a block from the water or less) made them worthwhile. And over half of the establishments were absolutely fantastic! I have to say that the “resort” in Calas de Reis (incredibly beautiful, and the most charming hosts!), and the casa rural in Padron were our favorites and far exceeded our expectations. Do yourself a favor and opt for the Country Cottages!”
