Festivals on the Camino in November

caminoways-ourense-magostoNovember is a month to celebrate the arrival of winter on the Camino de Santiago: jazz, tapas, mushrooms, chestnuts, cinema… don’t pack your pilgrim bags yet, there is still plenty to do, see and taste! These are some of the best festivals on the Camino in November:

O Magosto – Ourense, Santiago de Compostela and across Galicia

O Magosto is the Galician way of welcoming winter and a true celebration of sweet chestnuts! Ourense, on the Via de la Plata Camino route, celebrates its public Magosto on 11th November, Saint Martin’s Day, but it is also celebrated in other towns and villages, big and small, across Galicia.

Cineuropa – Santiago de Compostela – 7th-29th November

Cineuropa is Santiago’s film event of the year since 1988. This classic film festival takes place in Santiago during the month of November every year, showcasing the best of national and international art-house pieces in its original version. Cineuropa is a real treat for movie and art-house cinema fans, so book early as tickets really go fast!

Music Week, tapas and Melidefest in Melide | 15th – 24th November

Melide, on the last 100km of the French Way, hosts its annual music week in the parochial church, dedicated to Galicia’s traditional music. Expect plenty of bagpipe and colourful regional outfits. The buzzy market town also hosts the Melidefest focusing on Galician craft beer (23rd and 24th November) and its local tapas competition.
