Download the September Camino desktop calendar

september-camino-desktop-calendar-caminoways-ponferrada-castleFor our September Camino desktop calendar we have picked an image of one of our favourite and most impressive monuments along the French Way, the famous Camino Francés: it is the iconic Los Templarios or Templars Castle in Ponferrada, capital of El Bierzo.

This magnificent castle was originally a hill fort and settlement by the Sil River. Both the castle and town were donated to the Templar knights by King Alfonso IX in the 12th century so they would protect pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

We hope you like it! you can download the desktop calendar clicking on the following links:

Hi Jenny, thank you so much for getting in touch. We have divided the Camino Francés in 8 sections so you can choose to start at any of those points. The most popular route is Sarria to Santiago (the last 100kms of the route needed to receive your Compostela pilgrim certificate in Santiago): http://caminoways.com/ways/french-way-camino-frances/french-way-section-8. This route would includes walking days ranging from 14kms to 28kms. Accommodation is in small family-run hotels and guest houses (no hostels) as standard; and we have an option to upgrade to Country Cottages or Superior Collection: http://caminoways.com/types-of-camino-de-santiago-accommodation. You can choose to have a package with breakfast only or breakfast and dinner. I hope this helps. Let us know if you’d like to receive a more specific quote. Kindest regards.
