On behalf of the CaminoWays.com team I would like to thank all the walkers who took part in the second edition of the CaminoWays.com Walking Festival in Wicklow to celebrate St James Day on Saturday 25th July.
We were extremely lucky with the weather again and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer group of walkers, partners for the day and of course, our fabulous staff.
The sun came out as we were setting up camp at the Laragh GAA grounds early in the morning. As the first walkers arrived for the long 13km trail, the enthusiastic Raw Condition fitness professionals got you all warmed up, stretched and ready to go.
Over 300 walkers joined the two walks in total, starting at the GAA grounds and following stretches of the Wicklow Way, Ireland’s classic mountain trail, across the valley of Glendalough and on to the Brockagh Resource Centre, where Jaime, Vanessa and the Food Fiesta team were busy cooking their biggest paella ever!
Survivalist Ireland showed their skills on the day, 53 Degrees North were at hand giving sound walking gear advice and Susana Garrido, our favourite Galician singer, joined us again this year so we could enjoy her gorgeous sounds.
We promise we’ll have the draw a bit earlier next year so it doesn’t go on for too long! Despite the time it took to pick the winners, you all seemed delighted with your prizes so congratulations! Don’t forget you still have time to enter the #caminofestirl Photo Competition and we have more fantastic prizes from our great partners.
I’d like to thank Mary and the volunteers at CRMF Crumlin and wish them a Buen Camino for their upcoming Camino trip; Jaime and the Food Fiesta team for the delicious work on the day; the knowledgeable helpful 53 Degrees North team; Rob at Survivalist Ireland; John, Anthony and all the team from Raw Condition; Susana Garrido; the team at Buff UK and Ross from Contigo. Also a sincere thank you to Pauline at the Brockagh Centre, Fergal from Laragh GAA, our guides Fran and Orla and all the CaminoWays.com staff.
Thank you all for making the St James Day CaminoWays.com Walking Festival such a success and looking forward to next year’s!
Check out more pictures of the festival on the CaminoWays.com Facebook page. We’ll be publishing our video soon also.
