At CaminoWays.com we specialise in walking and cycling tours on the famous Camino de Santiago routes across Spain, Portugal and France. We offer both self-guided and, guided tours; and we can also arrange a tour for a private group of family or friends.
Whether you want to embark on this special journey on your own, with friends or family or share it with a group, our Camino specialists will help you find the right trip for you.
CaminoWays.com consistently strives to provide excellent customer service and best value for money. Here are 10 reasons why we think you should book with us:
1. No intermediaries, we deal directly with hotels & services
Over the years, we have built a strong relationship with local businesses along the Camino routes; we work directly with hotels, transporters, taxi drivers and all our service providers.
2. Choice of best hotels available
All properties booked for your trip have been handpicked by the CaminoWays.com reservations team with comfort, hospitality and convenience in mind. After a long day walking or cycling, we feel you deserve only the best, combined with excellent local cuisine. We always seek out friendly and welcoming accommodation packed with character. As part of our standard packages, we book your accommodation in the centre of the Camino villages or towns, where you can mix with fellow pilgrims (depending on availability). On occasion (specially during very busy periods on the Camino), we might book accommodation a few kms away from your end stage; but we will ensure that you are collected for free, and brought back to your starting point the next day after breakfast.
We also have a ‘Country Cottages’ and ‘Superior Collection’ available so you can experience the Camino de Santiago in charming boutique and luxury properties. Please note ‘Country Cottages’ (Casas Rurales) are generally located in rural areas, a few kms outside the towns.
3. CaminoWays.com offices
Our head office is based in Dublin so you can come in to talk to our travel team in person. We are located in 22 Blackpitts, Dublin 8, here’s how to find us: CaminoWays.com office.
4. Outstanding customer service and customer satisfaction
We are committed to delivering only the best quality tours, combined with outstanding Customer Care. Our knowledgeable travel team is always available to assist and advise before, during and after your trip. Customer Care and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us; and our services are constantly reviewed and improved taking into account our customers’ feedback.
5. Travel advice by email or phone
The CaminoWays.com team has many years of experience organising and booking Camino trips for groups of all sizes. Our travel specialists will be able to answer all your questions and help you find the best route and tour for you.
6. Free holiday pack
We take particular pride in our practical and useful Camino de Santiago holiday packs. These have been created by our staff after travelling to the destinations. Your holiday pack contains practical information, such as walking / cycling notes and maps for your Camino trip, as well as your pilgrim passport, luggage tags and hotel information.
7. Free pilgrim passport
Your holiday pack will also include a free pilgrim passport or ‘credencial’ (per person). The pilgrim passport is a document where you can track your progress along the Camino. You should get it stamped each day (at least twice if you are starting in Galicia) and you can get stamps from a multitude of locations along the way such as hotels, churches, pilgrim centres, etc… At the end of the Camino, you must present your ‘credencial’ at the Pilgrims Office in Santiago in order to obtain your Compostela pilgrim certificate.
8. 24/7 support number
Also as part of your holiday pack, you will be provided with a support number (for all our ‘self-guided’ clients) accessible 24/7 in case of emergency to guarantee your safety and peace of mind. Our reservations team is at the other end of the phone to solve any unexpected issues during your trip.
9. Experienced English-speaking guides
We also offer a number of Camino guided tours departing on selected dates for those that prefer to share the fun with other people. On a CaminoWays.com guided tour you will be part of a group and travel with an experienced guide who speaks, fluently, both English and the local language. The guide knows the area visited perfectly and will be able to share useful information about the route and the region.
10. Special dietary requirements
We are more than happy to cater for special dietary requirement requests you may have. Please let us know in advance and we will adapt the hotel bookings to your needs, whether it is allergy-related (nut, dairy products, coeliac…) or you follow a specific diet (vegetarian, vegan).
If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know so we can make arrangements for you meals before your departure. In addition, we recommend reminding the hotels on arrival, particularly if you are travelling during high season.
What are you waiting for? Start planning your Camino de Santiago trip!
Booking a Camino de Santiago trip with CaminoWays.com is simple and easy. All our holidays are tailor-made and our team are always happy to assist and give you advice. You simply have to book your flights and, based on your dates, we will organise an itinerary for you.
This is how we recommend you plan your trip, step by step:
1. Request a proposal
Request a proposal from the CaminoWays.com team with your chosen Camino de Santiago tour and dates by filling our online form, by email or on the phone.
Dates for our self-guided tours are completely flexible (Camino guided tours depart on specific dates). The quote will give you a detailed account of the route, days and cost. Based on those details, the Customer Care team will prepare an itinerary proposal for you.
2. Book your flights
Once you receive your itinerary proposal and you are happy with the details, it is time to book your flights. If you need help finding the closest airport to your starting point, each tour includes an ‘access’ tab with useful transport information (including closest airport for the tour).
3. Book your Camino holiday
Once you have your flights booked, it is time to contact the CaminoWays.com team to confirm your itinerary and book your holiday. Once your booking is done, the reservation process starts.
This is the time to discuss any changes to your itinerary, as changes requested once reservations have been completed, might result in change fees (see step 5).
4. What are ‘change fees’?
A ‘change fee’ of €40 applies to changes made to bookings/reservations made with CaminoWays.com.
5. What is considered a ‘change’?
A change to your booking affecting travelling dates and reservations already made.
There is no change fee for the following: booking additional nights at the beginning or end or your journey (add-on), hotel upgrades or booking additional services such as meals, transfers, extra bags (please note bags are charged per item).
6. When can I make a change?
Changes to your booking can be done up to 14 days prior to departure. Changes can not be done while on the trip.

Needless to say, we cater for every individual and level of fitness, building your trip around you!
Our tours take you to the best and most traditional Camino routes across Spain, Portugal and France. Our itineraries include stops along the main Camino cities, towns and villages, taking into account special cultural interests along the route but also your walking needs (ask our travel specialists for split days and rest days). Along the way, you will be amazed by wonderful landscapes, fascinating heritage and history; and exhilarating culture. Our advice? walk (or cycle) the Camino at your own pace, taking it all in and enjoy this unique and unforgettable adventure!
Customer Care is of utmost importance to us. Our team are always on standby to help you before, during and after your holiday, either by email or by phone.
Before you Depart
You can use our free, no strings attached ‘Request A Quote‘ service. You can do so by phone during office hours on 00353 (0) 1 525 2886, by fax or email email@example.com at any time or using the CaminoWays.com Contact form. We will reply within one business day. Our customer service team can also advise you on any administrative formalities you may require such as injections, visas, etc. On our website, you can research your Camino de Santiago trip and book it whenever you like.
During your Holiday
The route notes on a self-guided holiday and the certified guide on a Camino guided tour, as well as the general information document included in your holiday pack, can help you with many queries that you may have about the logistics of your trip. However, we will also supply you with a support number that you can access 24/7 in case of emergency during your trip. Here’s how it works: CaminoWays.com support number.
Safety whilst on Holiday
To ensure your safety and to help you to choose the right holiday for your fitness level and experience, each of our tours has a difficulty grade (check this rating before you book and feel free to ask our team for advice). In addition, all our hotels are modern and comfortable; run by travel professionals, ensuring that you and your personal belongings are well looked after.
After your Holiday
We assess the quality of our holidays based on our clients’ satisfaction. It is for this reason that we ask you to fill out a trip survey when you return home from your trip (Feefo and TripAdvisor) so that we can continuously improve our services. Your opinion is extremely important to us. You can find additional information here: How to share your Camino trip review.
If you have any questions or you want to know more about the Camino de Santiago, contact our travel specialists on 00353 (0)15252886 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
How it works: every morning you will leave your suitcase in reception (make sure you have attached the CaminoWays.com luggage tag provided) where our transporters will collect it to take it to the next hotel on your route. Your luggage will generally arrive at the next hotel before the end of your day’s walk. When you arrive it is already there, waiting for you!
The luggage transfer service allows you to travel light, walking or cycling comfortably with just your day backpack and your daily essentials (water, food, light jacket). Travelling with a lighter pack provides you with an additional level of comfort to ensure you worry about what’s really important: enjoying the Camino experience.
Additionally, you have the option to book a picnic and your hotel will provide you with a packed lunch that morning before you set off on your walk.
*Please note this service covers 1 piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 20kg per person. If you are travelling with more than one piece of luggage, please contact our team before your trip to book additional bags (additional fees apply).
You will usually arrive at your accommodation in the afternoon, giving you plenty of time for a refreshing shower and a visit to the local village or town; or perhaps you just want to unwind and relax for the evening.
Your walking day will be complete with a traditional meal at your hotel, prepared with the best fresh regional products so you can sample the local cuisine. We always give preference to properties recommended by recognised guidebooks and who have their own restaurant and awarded with a quality label. In addition, our reservations team visits the hotels we work with regularly to ensure the quality of the service we provide you is top-class. Please don’t hesitate to request information about the hotels.
In some cases, we have even designed the route so that it will take you to a hotel we particularly like. However, it can happen that on certain stages of the routes the accommodation, whilst always clean and friendly, will be more basic. This is due to the fact that some of the areas can be quite remote and therefore accommodation in these locations will be very limited. At CaminoWays.com we always try to get the best possible accommodation available on the route.
Not a single experience abroad is complete without good food! We also place emphasis on regional products and traditional dishes. This is an important criterion in our hotel selection. Meals are typically made from fresh, local products; following traditional or regional recipes. Please note each country has different meal times and traditions; which is part of the experience.
Generally, most properties will offer travellers continental breakfast, particularly in small places. In 3 and 4* hotels, and boutique hotels, you can expect a wider selection.
We can include a picnic lunch as part of your itinerary, including sandwich, fruit, chocolate or cereal bars. However, you will often find bars, restaurants or shops en-route. Ask our travel specialists for advice on your specific route.
Our standard package menu includes a 3-course meal with starter, main course and dessert. *For additional details, read our blog post Food on the Camino.
We also cater for all sorts of dietary requirements such as: vegetarian, vegan, coeliac /wheat free, nut allergy, diabetic… Please ask us when requesting a quote or booking.
Comfort and convenience is our priority. After a hard day of exploring we feel you deserve only the very best, combined with excellent local cuisine. We endeavour to seek out cosy and welcoming accommodation packed with character. Our priority is to book your accommodation in the centre of the villages and towns along the Camino, where you can socialise with fellow pilgrims.
You have two options when you book your Camino de Santiago holiday with us: we have our Standard classic package and we have now also launched our ‘Superior Collection’, available on selected routes, where you can stay at the Best Hotels on the Camino, including 4-star hotels and historic Paradores. On certain routes you can also avail of our ‘Country Cottages’ collection, staying in unique country homes, located in wonderful rural settings.
*For additional details, read our blog post: Types of Camino de Santiago accommodation.
Our Superior Collection gives you the opportunity to walk ‘The Way’ in luxury, giving your body and soul a pampering rest after each walking day.
Beautifully restored period houses, peaceful country homes and ‘Casas Rurales’, boutique hotels and historic ‘Paradores’ are some of the Superior Collection properties we have personally selected for you along the Camino.
For those finishing in Santiago de Compostela, we have also included a complimentary Spa treatment as part of your Superior Collection Camino experience.
This is a great package for those looking to make their Camino extra special, whether you are celebrating a special anniversary, an important birthday or planning a romantic escape, for instance.
Please ask our Camino de Santiago specialists for more details.
*Read our blog post: Types of Camino de Santiago accommodation.
Our Camino de Santiago group tours and guided tours generally include pick up and transfer from and back to the airport.
For self-guided tours, we recommend you check our ‘access’ tab, with detailed information on how to get to your starting point and back to the airport after your walk. Our travel consultants can also give you detailed advice on the best way to reach the starting point of your selected route. We always research the best transport options available so your trip can run smoothly.
If you rather be collected at the airport, we can also organise an airport transfer for you.
Guided Tours: Airport pick up is generally included. Location and time are stated in the holiday pack that you’ll receive before departure. Normally the guide will wait for the group at the airport arrivals hall at the arranged time, with a CaminoWays.com sign so you can easily spot him/her.
Self-Guided Tours: Pick up is not included but we can arrange it if requested. Our transporter will wait for you at the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.

If you are thinking about cycling the Camino de Santiago with CaminoWays.com, we have prepared this useful list answering all your questions about your new best holiday friend: your bike!
How it Works
You have decided to cycle the Camino, you have booked your self-guided holiday and you are now wondering how it will work. Bear in mind, you can also book a guided Camino de Santiago cycling tour, where you will be part of a group and get a support bus (this will be a better option for beginners). We recommend you cycle the Camino only if you have some experience as a cyclist and are familiar with essential bike maintenance (how to change a tyre for example and basic bike repairs and assembly).
When you arrive at your first hotel, your bike should be there waiting for you, ready for the following day: your first day cycling. The bike will be neatly packed in a box so the handlebar needs to be straightened and the pedals need to be attached. It is very important that you check the bike before you start your journey, making sure everything is working properly. If you think there is something not quite right, let us know so your bike can get replaced and avoid trouble on your way (in a way, it is similar to renting a car!).
Once you finish your cycle to Santiago you should bring your bike back to the rental company, in the city centre. If your final destination is not Santiago, the bike will be collected at your hotel.
If mid-tour, you decide you don’t need some of the bike accessories (pannier, etc…), make sure to pack them in your luggage so it can be transferred easily (avoiding additional charges and risk of losing the equipment). Do not leave pedals or any other bike accessories supplied behind in your hotel, as you will be charged for loss or damage of equipment.
A minimum period of 3 days applies when hiring a bike for your Camino de Santiago. Your bike: We work with local companies and you will get an aluminium 27-gear mountain bike with break disks and 27.5 inch wheels, as standard. These bikes are specifically designed for the Camino de Santiago terrain and will be adapted to your height (it is essential that you give the reservations team your exact height so you are provided with a suitable bike – particularly if you are cycling the Camino with children). The bike comes with a rack, bottle holder, lock and reflectors. Contact our travel consultants if you would like to upgrade your hired bike.
Pannier bag (see picture beside to give you an idea of size) with a bike repair kit inside. (*If you don’t need it, just let us know in advance). The repair kit includes a pump, set of tools, spare inner tube and cables. It also comes with a bike lock. Please note that the panniers are not water-proof so it advisable to bring a dry bag with you for the trip.
We don’t provide you with a helmet (for hygiene reasons) but you can bring your own. Bear in mind, by Spanish law, both bicycle drivers and passengers must use officially approved protective helmets when circulating within urban areas, except in long steep slopes, on the grounds of medical reasons or under extremely hot conditions (Spanish Law 43/1999: November 25th 1999). Failure to comply with this could result in a traffic fine.
Additional bike accessories can also be hired or purchased.
If you are cycling the Camino with kids, let our travel consultants know in advance as we also have got various options: a trail for 3-4 year olds, traill gator with small 20″ bike for 4-8 year olds or 24″ bikes for kids from 8 years of age (120cm min). They will also give you suggestions for a children-friendly route/itinerary.
More details about the bike:
Frame – Aluminium
Fork – Suntour SF-15 XCM RL
Pedals – Aluminium (not automatic)
Hubs – Shimano BRM 33
Front derailleur – Shimano FDM 370
Rear derailleur – Shimano RDM430 Alivio
Shifter – Shimano SLM 370 Altus
Disc brakes – Shimano AM355
Chain – KMC X9
Saddle – Selle Royal Mach
Rims – Mach Neuro Disc
We have carefully planned the distances you will cover by bike on the Camino, taking into account the nature of the terrain, type of track and other circumstances (If it’s a path shared with walkers or not, for example). If you feel distances for your Camino cycle are too short or long, talk to our travel consultants when you are planning your trip. There is probably a good reason behind the mileage chosen, just ask us!
The Camino de Santiago routes cover thousands of miles so it is difficult to have someone on the ground at all times but relax, it runs smoothly all the time!
CaminoWays.com has a 24/7 emergency number should you need assistance and advice (this number is provided with your booking/holiday pack). However, we are not able to send someone to repair your bike on the Camino trail.
Your bike comes with a repair kit for essential repairs such as flat tyres and punctures. In the unlikely event that you had a second puncture, we can provide you with the contact details for the closest bike repair shop (you will be responsible for repair costs). If you are in a remote area and don’t feel like cycling, we can also get you contact details for local taxi drivers (a taxi transfer will be at your own cost).
If you feel you need a break from cycling, we might be able to organise a transfer for your bike but we will need 48hrs notice and there will be a cost associated to the bike transfer (as additional luggage transfer).
If you are a bike beginner why not consider a guided Camino de Santiago cycling tour instead? Our guided cycling tours of the Camino de Santiago come with a support bus (available for private groups of 10 people or more).
Enjoy the ride!
